Wachella Falls & Bonneville Dam

Wachella Falls
Today was a very fun day! We decided that we needed a well deserved break from our normal daily routine and yard work so we went hiking!! We went to Wachella Falls in the Columbia River Gorge with our friends, Aaron & Hoku Brewer. We had lots of fun and Megan did great. She walked the entire way (2 miles) all by herself. She's turning out to be a great little hiker! Daniel on the other hand got a little bored in the backpack and quickly fell asleep for the most of the hike. After seeing the falls we had some lunch and headed over to the Bonneville Dam & fish hatchery to show Megan all of the trout, salmon, sturgeon, and chad. She thought it was pretty cool!

We put Megan into the opening of a cave and she was rather scared of the "monsters" inside. Thanks Aaron...
A view of the beautiful lush waterside.
Megan hanging out with the Lampreys. Since we didn't see many fish climbing the ladders from the downstairs viewing windows, the Lampreys provided much excitement for Megan.

One Mess After Another

So Daniel has been doing some exploring in the kitchen lately. One day he's getting into the recycling box and the next he's into the pots and pans. I am going to have to put latches on all of my cupboards now....

Our Garden Boxes

So here are some pics of our garden boxes. We have two built and have two more to still do. It's been quite a job, but when we're eating all that corn on the cob and green beans it'll be worth all the work! Things around here are looking good. Every spare moment it seems like one or both of us are out in the yard or at Home Depot!
The pots between the boxes are filled with various flower seeds. They will be placed throughout the yard when they start looking good!

Bike ride with Grandpa

Tonight we went for a way fun bike ride down on the waterfront with Steen's Dad. He now lives on the river, so it will be nice to go walking and biking more frequently with him. It was a perfect night to spend outside with the family!

Megan's Birthday Party!!

Tonight we had Megan's birthday party! All the family came and it was so fun. Steen made steak and chicken kabobs on the BBQ and we had lots of other delicious food. Megan got tons of presents including the Cinderella princess dress that she is modeling below. We had a great time with all of our family and we can't believe that our little Megan is going to be three years old! Her birthday is tomorrow, Mother's Day. What a great present she is to me!

Belated Cinqo de Mayo Party

On Friday night we went over to our friends house and had a belated Cinqo de Mayo party. We had nachos and some really good Mexican drinks for dinner and for dessert we had the yummiest deep fried ice cream! After dinner we went outside and set up a pinata for the kids. It was so fun for them. At first Megan didn't know what to think, but she ended up having a lot of fun. The adults played some games while the kids watched a movie and played. We had a great time with our friends! I think we are going to have to make this a Cinqo de Mayo tradition...?

It's fun to use a fork!

Lately Daniel has been very persistent about using a fork at dinner time. He actually does a pretty good job. He's becoming such a big boy lately and he's started really trying to copy a lot of the things that Megan does!

Open wide!
Shoveling it in.

Story Time

Every night before bed we do the same ritual - night after night. One of the things we do is read a book about Ghost Rider. Crazy I know, but Megan for some reason really likes the pictures in it. Since we read it every night, she must have started memorizing the book. A few nights ago she told me that she wanted to read it to me. Needless to say, she totally surprised me. Tonight Steen and I decided to get it on tape. She's so proud now when she does this!!
